As a young man that's growing in the society that is at the moment over run by the media and electronics. No one ever has the time to look around and explore the places that have not been touched by mankind in a way that ruined the image of a perfect world. Luckily, I came across this class that has shown me that really important places like
Sheldon Lake. The funny thing is, if you look at the website you notice that the pictures have not been updated in a while. The extra credit experience I had with my classmates in English 1 of my first semester in
Lee College really opened my eyes.Visiting this Texas masterpiece shows us that our surroundings are becoming more and more extinct and endangered.

A lot of different things stood out to me. One of the major points was when I learned that that after a certain amount of years, they burn the area behind the ranger so it can regrow and also not turn into a forest. This stood out to me because it shows that they have to burn this beautiful ground, so they would be able to regrow a more luscious ground. This originally started when the Native Americans began to start these fires and make routes that were able to be followed.

The interesting thing about the trail was the amazing flowers and grasses that grew around the wooden barrier. It came to my knowledge that this was dragged in under the boots and on the tires of tractors an cars. I wonder if it is that easy to spread germs. One of the beautiful flowers on this trail was this pink mallow. This stood radiantly along the sides of the hot trail. As we continued walking we talked about the little important details and cool facts about the reservoir. As I stood outside I came to the realization that there were absolutely no mosquitos. Then after asking Collin brought to mind the fact that there were so many dragon flies. Which also means that it is a healthy ecosystem. That proves to me that they are doing something right.
I enjoyed walking around but I must say my favorite part was walking around on the solo trail and also seeing Houston from the
John Jacob Observation Tower. It was like something I had never seen before. The image to me means so much more. It shows me that if in the distance you see the city and buildings. The actual beauty is what is behind the scenes, that being the untainted beautiful landscape that was that amazing lake. I for one will revisit the park on a special occasion

. Who knows maybe a date or a family field trip. The outdoors is a great way to get away from all of life and visit the place that still remains true to itself. It is a great stress reliever because nothing is on your mind, just trees and grass. I recommend this trip to anyone that needs to leave a stressful life and needs to reconnect with its surroundings, Who knows? maybe that will inspire you to volunteer at a local nature center and start bringing back what this beautiful earth had to start with.
